I support student success at OSU by engaging students directly in hands-on, interdisciplinary research that connects classroom concepts to real-world challenges through the USDA-funded Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates. This program has provided research experiences for 84 students so far.
My greatest impact has been through research and outreach — especially in collaborating with an Oregon company to develop a mass timber product that has led to several million-dollar investments in a rural community and created jobs. Several buildings on campus are now built with that product.
OSU is a place where innovation, collaboration and community come together to make a tangible impact. OSU’s land grant mission inspires me to connect my research, teaching and outreach in sustainable construction materials to real-world needs and to enhance student experiences along the way. Go Beavs!
