The Food Drive at Oregon State University has a long tradition of success.

Every year, university departments and units plan a variety of fund- and food-raising activities to help the hungry. This effort is in conjunction with the Governor's State Employees Food Drive. The resources raised by OSU efforts in Corvallis benefit nonprofit agencies served by Linn-Benton Food Share, while proceeds from County Extension Offices, Experiment Stations, OSU-Cascades and centers associated with OSU go to their local food banks.

During the Food Drive, participating OSU departments, extension offices and student groups across campus compete to be the top fundraiser. Competing units are categorized by the number of employees in each department. At the end of the Food Drive, the top three fundraising units in each category are recognized.

In 2024, OSU contributed 467,777 meals to the Linn Benton Food Share and local food banks!

Food and monetary donations

Food donations are tangible and provide a direct connection between a donor and the hungry person who receives the food.

Monetary donations allow food share agencies to leverage funds to purchase low-cost, high-quality foods at quantities and prices not available to the average consumer. Money supports programs that address root causes of hunger through advocacy and public education. It also keeps freezers running and trucks on the road.
